Setup Two-Factor Authentication

Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

IronClad Family is built with security at its core. All client information is fully encrypted within your vaults, and enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an additional layer of protection. We strongly recommend turning this on to secure your account.

Why 2FA matters:
Even if someone knows your password, they cannot access your account without the temporary code generated by your authenticator app or SMS. This prevents unauthorized logins and protects your vault data.

1. Go to Your Profile

  • Click the dropdown arrow beside your name in the upper-right corner.
  • Select My Profile.

2. Enable Two-Factor Authentication

Scroll down within your profile and select the radio button for Enable Two-Factor Authentication.

3. Choose Your Authentication Method

IronClad Family supports two verification options. Choose the method you prefer and click Save.

Tip: You can switch between SMS and an authenticator app at any time.

Option A: SMS Authentication

A verification code will be sent to the mobile number listed in your profile. Enter the code and click Submit to continue.

Option B: App Authenticator

Use any authentication app of your choice, such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator.

  1. Open your authenticator app.
  2. Scan the QR code displayed on your screen.
  3. Enter the 6-digit code from the app and click Submit OTP.

Security Best Practice: Authenticator apps are generally more secure than SMS. If possible, we recommend choosing the app option.

4. Confirmation

After saving your settings, you’ll receive a confirmation message indicating that 2FA is now active.

5. Logging In With 2FA

The next time you log into IronClad Family, you will be prompted to enter the verification code from your SMS or authenticator app, depending on which method you selected.
